'Pushing the limits' by Christer Lindh

We all love Snow but as we know it interrupts with our modern lives. But it come to us in the Northern Hemisphere each and every year.

How to describe snow to people who have not seen it?

During the winter months in colder climates snowflakes fall from clouds instead of rain drops; except that each snowflake is a frozen water crystal, each with its own unique design. As long as temperatures are below freezing snow will collect, sometimes to depths of several feet. Wind will blow falling and fallen snow into drifts. Skiers have a vocabulary that distinguishes different types of snow and Inuit have even many more words to help explain how it affects their lives. Children of all ages in places like Canada pack snow into balls for throwing or growing into much bigger balls to build snowmen. The Inuit build dome-shaped dwellings out of blocks of icy snow. Gloves or mittens are a necessity when shovelling or playing with snow.

A song I have loved since it came out by the amazing artist Kate Bush, is '50 Words for snow'. It describes snow in such a artistic way with words from around the world.
