How to create EXHIBITIONS

by Yvette Depaepe
Published the 16th of February 2024

As many members still are struggling making exhibitions, I hope this detailed article will help them.

This feature is a most powerful tool to create online exhibitions with your photos just like a gallery curator arranging prints on the walls of a gallery.

'Gallery' by Zoltán K. Bartha

By using exhibitions, you can customize, control and completely change what your profile looks like.

To see the many exhibitions created by our members go to the opening gallery page.
You will see the currently presented spotlight exhibition titled 'Romanticized Nature'  showing works of Hansen and Daams.

On the lower right side you have a small menu box 'View Exhibition' and next to it 'Show all featured'.
When you click on it 'Show all featured',  you will see this: 'Featured' and 'All'

When you click on 'All', you will see all the exhibitions created by our members.

The very best exhibitions will be featured and presented on the opening gallery page and will stay there for a month.
However, all the exhibitions have a change to be presented in the 1x magazine. The ones with a fine introduction text will have more chances to be published.
It doesn't have to be long, take an example by having a look on the Featured exhibitions.

 HOW TO CREATE AN EXHIBITION

Under your name on your landing page, you can see 'About' and 'Exhibitions'.
When you move the cursor to 'exhibitions' you will see all exhibitions you created.
If you didn't create any, you still will have the default exhibition showing all your photos.

You can create and add more exhibitions and make one of them your default exhibition on your profile, if you want.   You can add quotes, change the order of your photos and align them in different ways and change the size.

STEP BY STEP
To start creating a new exhibition go to your profile. Click the account menu in the top right when you are logged in to 1x and then the button "Go to your profile". Click "Create a new exhibition" at the top to get started.

Name your new exhibition and then click "Select photos". Select all photos you want to include in the exhibition. Numbers will indicate how many photos are selected. When you are done click "Create".

In the exhibition editor you can re-arrange the photos by dragging and dropping either the large photos to the left or the thumbnails to the right (in the desktop version).

Under the large images you can align them to the left or right or make them appear in big size.
By clicking the button "Add object" you can add a title, or bigger or smaller text block in between your images. The texts can also be re-arranged by dragging and dropping.
Click "Delete" to remove an image or text.

Remember to click "Save" when you are done editing your exhibition and make it visible to the public by checking the box "Open for visitors" in the lower right.
You can also make it the landing page of your profile by using the other checkboxes.

HOW TO EDIT EXHIBITIONS
To edit an existing exhibition hover the "Exhibitions" menu on your profile, hover the
exhibition you like to edit and click the blue "Edit" button.

HOW TO DELETE AN EXHIBITION
Edit an exhibition and then click the red "Delete" button in the lower right.

Thank you so much, dear Yvette! This is a very helpful article.
Thank you Yvette for the reference to the "Murmur of the sea" exhibition. Have a nice evening.
My pleasure, Jean-Luc. Perfect example ;-)
I somehow knew that there was an exhibition feature in my 1X profile, but I never got around to trying to use it. Thanks to this article, I would like to compose an exhibition of the series I am working on here in addition to my own web. " Maybe" I will try in the near future. Thanks for writing this article.
My pleasure, dear Asako !
